We are a one stop production company that works with a network of experienced filmmakers and artists in all stages of production, guaranteeing competitive prices, timely deliveries and cinematic quality for independent filmmakers.

They say that all of human thought in the past 2500 is a series of footnotes to the writings of the great Greek philosopher Plato.

Platonic Films are our humble attempt to add our own footnote to the mix.

Our Founder

Roee Messinger is a director, writer, producer and film editor known for his ability to tell stories that challenge existing orders both narratively and formally. Roee received his MFA in Digital Media Production from The City College of New York under the sponsorship of the prestigious Fulbright Fellowship for international students. His thesis film Drifting won the program’s best narrative and technical achievement awards. Roee established Platonic Films to produce his first feature. American Trial: The Eric Garner Story, his directorial debut, was selected to The Gotham’s 2018 project forum as a work-in-progress and later premiered at the 2019 New York Film Festival to rave reviews. It was theatrically released in 2020 and is now available on cable and streaming in the US and abroad. Tibi Tendlu: The Dirt that Binds Us is Roee’s second feature with Platonic Films (this time as producer and editor), was released in 2024 by BayView Entertainment.

  • Aharon Rothschild - Director of Photography and Colorist

    Brooklyn based Director of Photography with 13 feature credits. Ari values simplicity and directness and his work reflects that. His cinematography is lean, often handheld, but in motion with a purpose and clarity that communicates without calling attention to itself. Ari values realism and take my references from nature. His work on set is to create a container for what the director and actors are bringing, and that container is light, lens, movement.

  • Tad Green - Hair & Makeup

    Tad’s got 25 Film credtis to his name. He graduated from M.U.D (Makeup Designory) in 2010, Arrojo Cosmetology in 2022 and I completed a 12 week Barber course with Fellow Barber this December 2022. His retail background includes Sephora, MAC Cosmetics, Lancôme, Space NK and Dyson Hair Tools. I’ve also assisted at John Barette Salon, Mizu Salon and White Room Salon. His only career objective is to continue to work hard, grow as a artist and keep doing what he loves.

  • Robert Aronowitz - Stunt Coordinator

    Robert Aronowitz is a New York City based SAG-AFTRA Stunt/Fight/Intimacy Coordinator, Actor, and Certified Combat Instructor. Robert is the Co-Founder of Neutral Chaos a company that offers choreographic solutions, private combat instruction, and masterclass training opportunities in the greater New York City area. Robert is also the founding coordinator of a 3-day stage and screen stunt workshop, "The Tourist Trap" held annually at The University of Central Florida.

    Lina Lansky is a NYC based freelancer working in all facets of the film industry as a First Assistant Director, Production Manager, and Producer. Her range of experience includes feature films, shorts, music videos, branded content, commercials, and docuseries

  • Raxann Chin - Costume Designer

    Raxann Chin ® is an award-winning Fashion and Costume Designer who created the couture clothing line, Femhéka ®. The combination of two words “Fem” (feminine) and “Heka” (god of magic); Femhéka means “Magical Goddess.” The fashion line offers Haute Couture, Bridal, Prêt-à-Porter, and Home Collections with its slogan: Awake. Live. Be a Magical Goddess.

    The New York-based, self-trained designer has made her mark since her design debut in 2012. Her work continues to be seen internationally in Film, TV, Commercials, Music Videos, Opera, and was requested by her homeland of Jamaica to create the country’s national costume for the Miss World 2015 competition in Sanya, China. She is best known for her designs on the red carpets at the Academy Awards, Festival de Cannes and several other award ceremonies. Chin, known for her spirited personality, celebrity clientele, and design abilities is the new cast member and celebrity stylist for Hollywood-based reality TV series Back on The Market, currently in pre-production. Chin replaced celebrity stylist Jennifer Rade on the television series after Rade received the network’s green light for her own TV show.

    Genna Edwards is a location sound mixer based in Brooklyn, New York. She works with clients and creatives from all over the globe to tell stories about women, sexuality, horror, and psychology

  • Cesar Renero - Art Director

    ESAR RENERO is a Brooklyn and Los Angeles based Art Director, Technical Director and Scenic Designer, originally hailing from Mexico City. After graduating from Hamilton College in 2017 with a BA in World Politics, Cesar has worked over six years in film, theatre, live events, experiential marketing and pop-ups. Well-versed in standard scenic fabrication practices, Cesar also produces new solutions to meet engineering challenges that conform to the overall creative vision. Highly motivated and organized, Cesar strives to make every production a safe, enjoyable and efficient operation. Past credits include: Cannabis! (LaMaMa ETC), Happy Life (Soho Rep Theatre), H*tler's Tasters (Theatre Row), Hart Island (Gym at Judson), Runaway (Music Video, by Yatra ft. Jonas Brothers).

  • Estefania Chavez - Production Department

    Estefania Chavez is a Dominican producer, filmmaker, and educator from the Bronx, NY.

    She creates original media art, films, and educational resources. Estefania's work has been screened and exhibited in galleries, film festivals, the Bronx Museum of the Arts, Bronx Documentary Center and on TV.

    She produces experimental-narrative-and-documentary visual media that materializes unusual raw images, colors, sounds, texts, graphics and more mixed-media to collage the patterns and dimensions that shape the Caribbean diaspora— on screen(s).

  • Niav Conty - Camera Department

    Niav attended Skidmore College on a full scholarship for music performance, lived in China as a student of classical painting and calligraphy, and worked as an actor in New York. She moved to France to begin making films, where she studied with Boris Lehman and Pedro Costa, and worked closely for many years with Oscar-winning maverick director Joseph Strick (1923-2010). In 2010 she returned to New York to study with avant-garde filmmaker Chantal Akerman (1950-2015) and complete her M.F.A. at City College. She is a recipient of the Kodak Award for cinematography, and the 2013 Princess Grace Award.

    She has DP’d over a dozen short films, both short and feature documentaries, 4 narrative features, as well as music videos and commercials. She brings her technical knowledge and artistic ideas to every project she is involved in and loves working with Director’s to enhance their visions.

  • Zach Spiezer - Post Sound Department

    Zachary Spiezer has lived and worked in NYC for over fifteen years. After completing his certification in audio engineering at IAR, he started his freelance career in music, film, TV and podcasting. Well skilled in diverse tasks of both preproduction and postproduction, he is constantly evolving and acquiring new skills to add to his portfolio. His first project with Platonic Films inc. was on the postproduction team for the film 'American Trial' in 2019.

  • Sebastian Kauderer - Film Composer

    DescriptSebastian Kauderer is an award-winning composer that has created the original soundtrack for many films, TV series and documentaries working in productions from all over the world. As a pianist Kauderer has toured around the globe performing with many of the most prestigious musicians. Performance highlights include the London Philarmonia, LA Philharmonic, Bulgarian Symphony Orchestra and Argentina National Symphony Orchestra.

    He scored numerous films such as Academy Award Winner “The Secret in Their Eyes” for Best Foreign Language Film, "Border Run", "Dear Dictator" and worked alongside Academy Award Winner Alex Dinelaris in his movie "In This, Our Time". Furthermore, he composed soundtracks for many TV series for various networks like HBO, Apple TV+, History Channel, Bravo, MTV, VH1, and Discovery Channel, with the most momentous highlights being the TV series "VICE" and "Long Way Up" featuring Ewan McGregor.ion goes here

  • Jonathan Burkhardt - SFX and Graphic Design

    Jonathan Burkhardt is an illustrator, animator, VFX artist, designer, and general creative professional, who has spent fifteen years in creative production in various industries, including film, live theater, dance, video games, political campaigns, and non-profits. He received his MFA in Illustration from the School of Visual Arts and lives in the New York City area with his partner, Leila--a painter--and his awesome dog Maggie.

  • Alfred "Prince" Edwards - Editor

    A. Prince Edwards (He/Him/His) is Video Editor and Filmmaker based in Brooklyn, New York. Growing up within the concrete jungle, Prince is no stranger tothe various issues that the city presents including hardships such as homelessness, gentrification, as well as discrimination against minorities of various races, genders, and sexualities. From hisfilm “Life, Liberty, and The Pursuit of Happiness”, a brief yet relevant dive into the current state of immigration within New York City, to Solo, a semi-animated film about a young man tryingto get his body back from a paranormal spirit from a different realm, Prince Edwards’ work oftenfeatures unique lenses into the lives of others along with the issues they deal with on a physicaland social level. Recently, Prince has delved more into the technological aspect of digital media,and has honed in on pioneering methods of storytelling that combine already established formatsof expression within film, photography, and video editing and rehashing them in a new light.

  • niko darling - Photographer and Colorist

    niko darling is a queer Uruguayan filmmaker, photographer and educator who lives in Brooklyn, NY. She received her BFA in Photography at the New World School of the Arts in Miami, completed the Creative Practices program at the International Center of Photography in New York City, and received her MFA in Film from The City College of New York. darling!s work is feminist and queer in nature and investigates subjects such as pervasive gender inequality, the queer female gaze, and the increasing lack of privacy in our everyday lives due to government surveillance. Always with a storyteller!s vantage, darling’s work also reaches to lighter subjects of our shared humanity like her investigative documentary short film about Pisces Women and her photographic series of subway portraits. Her work has been exhibited in various galleries including BRIC Arts, the Bureau of General Services Queer Division, the International Center of Photography, Aperture gallery, UnionDocs, and Paris Photo.
